How
to Use Flash Cards
Flashcards
can help any student at any level. They are simply a great way to memorize
material.
I
recommend using three piles for flash cards. As you quiz yourself put
each card into one of the three piles. If you know the card without
any hesitation put it in the "know" pile. If you can remember with a
little hesitation, put it into the "ok" pile. Lastly, if you cannot
remember the answer put the card into the "needs work" pile. The better
you know something the faster you can answer it. Recall time is an indication
of how well you know the material.
Here
is some good news: each time you quiz yourself, you will be putting
more and more cards into the "know" pile. Make enough study time. Keep
working on the stack until you have all the cards in the "know" pile.
I
recommend that you look at the cards more than once a day. One of the
keys to memorization is to review the material as many times as possible.
So, I say to look at the cards once in the morning, once midday (Code
Cards fit nicely in your lunch bucket), and once at night. Code Cards
are powerful learning tools that can really help. Start using them today!
